About the Designers
Sascha Warmenhoven (13-12-1971, Hanau am Main, Germany) and Babette Venderbos (03-08-1972, Geertruidenberg, The Netherlands) both studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Rotterdam. This was also the place where they first met and discovered their alike minds in regards to arts and fashion design. Sascha Warmenhoven did his internships at Walter Van Beirendonck and Dirk Van Saene and worked after his graduation in 1995 for various major international sportswear brands. Babette Venderbos did her internship at So by Alexander van Slobbe and also worked during her studies as a showroom assistant for Maison Martin Margiela.
During their long debates about arts and fashion the idea of launching a collection was born. In 1996, one year before Babette Venderbos graduated, they decided permanently to work together. In these early days both designers strongly developed their individual conceptual way of thinking and working. They visualized their discussions in their autonomous works and clothing collections. In this time the foundations for the future work of the Warmenhoven & Venderbos label was layed down and refined.
