In his fascinating series of work, New York artist, Michael Mapes created human specimen boxes by dissecting, rearranging and reconstructing representations of a selected specimen. De-constructed photos are combined with fragments with a more “personal Dna” such as hair, tears, calendar dates and geographical references and form as final result a stunning series of scientific sculptural collages.
